Dr. Winnie Lai

Technology Specialist

Dr. Winnie Lai is a Technology Specialist who assists in patent drafting and prosecution in the life sciences and biotechnology.

Prior to joining Eagle IP, Winnie obtained her PhD in Pharmacology and a First-Class Honours in Master of Pharmacy from the University of East Anglia in the UK. Her doctoral research focused on complex signalling pathways in cancer metastasis that aids drug target discovery, leading to several peer-reviewed publications. During this time, she also took a role as an Associate Tutor, teaching and mentoring undergraduate students in the School of Pharmacy. She also made a significant contribution to the COVID-19 pandemic response, working closely across academia, the NHS, and the Quadram Institute on a nationwide SARS-CoV-2 genome sequencing project as part of the COVID-19 Genomics UK Consortium. She further pursued an MSc in Biopharmaceutical Development and Commercialisation at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, where she was awarded a Top Performance Scholarship.

Winnie’s area of expertise includes translational medicines, biotherapeutics biotechnology, cancer immunology, and cell biology.

Her working languages are English, Cantonese and Mandarin Chinese.

Having worked as a scientist, patent attorney, and executive over her 20-year career, Jennifer has a deep appreciation and understanding for how to devise IP strategies that take into account both the technical as well as the long-range business needs of an organization.

Pauli is a Chinese Patent Attorney and has been at Eagle IP for over 11 years. Pauli oversees the patent drafting team at Eagle IP, and also manages global patent prosecution for her clients. She drafts and prosecutes patent applications in a wide range of technology areas including biology, biotechnology, medical devices, chemistry, engineering, and material science for local and international clients in Hong Kong and the US.

Principal

Yolanda is a Chinese Patent Attorney and a Chinese Patent Litigator who can represent clients before the courts in China. She has over 16 years of IP experience, including 15 years at Eagle IP. Yolanda oversees the China patent prosecution team at Eagle IP and focuses on advising foreign and local clients on patent rights, portfolio management, patent prosecution, and filing strategy worldwide. Her practice includes patent invalidation oral hearings before the Patent Review Board (PRB) at CNIPA (China National Intellectual Property Administration, formerly SIPO).
